Thomas L. Fox began his career with the United States Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C., followed by service with the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office. He later served as in-house counsel for labor and employee relations at the Santa Barbara Research Center, a 3,000-employee research, development, and manufacturing company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Hughes Aircraft Company. There, he handled labor, employment, and environmental matters.

In private practice since 1986, Tom has practiced criminal defense and employee related matters throughout his career and has personally taken 99 cases through jury trial to verdict. His combined courtroom and in-house experience gives him a distinctive perspective on criminal and employment-related matters.

Tom's entertainment practice began in the early days of hip-hop, when two criminal-defense clients shared a cassette demo. He recognized their talent, helped secure a record deal, and the artists went on to sell more than 50 million records. His practice expanded naturally to recording artists, producers, songwriters, and record labels, and later to artists and production companies in film and television.

Today, Tom continues to serve established entertainment-industry clients and handle select white-collar criminal defense matters. His employment practice includes individual employment matters as well as multi-party matters pursued through collective actions.
